For interior designers, architects and homeowners working on a special space, a bespoke commission turns a wall into a considered focal point. Stephen Milner takes on a limited number of commissions each year, creating one off black and white pieces, including very large format work, tailored to the project.
What is a bespoke commission?
A bespoke commission is a one off artwork, unique to the client's request, created for a specific space and not sold anywhere else. It is quoted individually and never added to the website catalogue, so the finished piece is exclusive to the project. To start a conversation, get in touch through the Bespoke Commissions page.
How does the process work?
Commissions begin with a conversation, usually an online call, to understand the space, the brief and the feeling you are after. From there the work is quoted as required, with additional sizes and mounting formats arranged on request. Because every commission is different, each is priced individually rather than from a fixed list.
How large can a piece be?
Very large. It is possible to print these artworks up to three metres wide, made using an aluminium frame with a silicone edge graphic fabric, which suits statement walls in homes and commercial spaces alike. For designers, that scale opens up feature walls, lobbies and hospitality spaces that standard prints cannot fill.
What is included in a quote?
A commission quote includes all costs for the piece, and where a project requires it, pricing for expenses and travel. The aim is a single clear figure so you can plan the project with confidence, with no surprises later.
Why commission black and white fine art?
Black and white photography is calm and timeless, which makes it ideal for interiors meant to last. It works with any palette and any style, from a warm residential room to a minimal commercial space. You can see the range and tone of the work in the black and white collection, and read how each piece is made on The Process.
