Fine Art Landscape Photography with a medium Format Film Camera

A fine art landscape photography story

Fine art landscape photography with a film camera is a rewarding experience. In today’s video, we will be creating some beautiful square format slide film photos with my Mamiya 6 medium format film camera and Fujifilm Astia 100F. I hope you enjoy the video.

My Fujifilm Astia 100F expired in 2005. When I digitalised the slides with my Epson scanner and Silverfast, there were some colour shifts that I had to fix. There were strong yellow and cyan in the bright light, and magenta in the shadows. I used the white balance and HSL sliders in Lightroom to fix the colours. I am enjoying lightroom’s updated masking features, and they made this task a lot easier.

I think the photos turned out well. I like the soft colours of Astia for Landscape Photography and I wish Fujifilm would start making it again. The photos from this trip will be featured in my new film photography book, which is called Volcanic Aotearoa.
