In 2019 my images of Tongariro National Park were commended in the landscape category of Capture Magazine's Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers.
Over that year I visited Tongariro National Park regularly to photograph it through the seasons, then entered a selection from those trips into the competition. The images were commended in the landscape category, which was a welcome surprise. Thank you to Capture Magazine for the recognition.
Australasia's Top Emerging Photographers, run by Capture Magazine, is a well known showcase for newer photographers across Australia and New Zealand, so to have this work commended among a strong field was genuinely encouraging. Returning to one place across every season taught me more about light and patience than anywhere else, and much of that landscape now lives in the collection as black and white fine art.
